Front Suspension Components — Silver Spirit & Bentley SZ

The Silver Spirit front suspension uses a double wishbone setup with coil springs and hydraulic dampers. Worn front suspension components are the most common cause of vague steering, pulling to one side, uneven tire wear and loss of the characteristic Rolls-Royce ride quality. We stock front ball joints, control arm bushings, tie rod ends, anti-roll bar links, front dampers and all associated front suspension hardware for all SZ variants. When replacing suspension bushings on these cars all bushes in a control arm should be replaced at the same time — replacing one worn bush while leaving others worn will not restore correct geometry.

What Suspension System Does the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit Use?

The Silver Spirit I uses a hydropneumatic self-leveling rear suspension system operated by the high-pressure LHM mineral oil circuit shared with the brakes and power steering. The Silver Spirit II from 1989 onwards introduced Active Ride — an electronically controlled suspension system that uses completely different front and rear components from the earlier cars. Always confirm your exact model year before ordering any suspension component as parts are not interchangeable between Silver Spirit I and Silver Spirit II Active Ride variants.
