Exotic Car Parts stocks water pumps, cooling fans and viscous couplings for the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit I, II, III and IV, Silver Spur I, II, III and IV, Flying Spur, Touring Limousine and Silver Dawn — and on the Bentley side the Mulsanne, Mulsanne S, Mulsanne Turbo, Eight, Brooklands, Turbo R, Turbo RL, Turbo S, Turbo RT, Continental R, Continental T, Continental SC and Azure — all 1980 to 2003. We stock four water pump specifications covering the full production run. Always confirm your model year and VIN before ordering. Call us on +1 845 595 9822 seven days a week.
Water Pumps — Four Specifications Across the Production Run
We stock four genuine water pump and impeller assemblies covering the complete SZ range. Water pump (UE42285) at $655 covers 1981–1983. Water pump (UE44919) at $650 covers 1982–1986. Water pump (RH13495) at $650 covers 1987–1994. Water pump (RH13521) at $620 covers 1994–2003. The water pump is belt-driven from the front of the engine — pump failure typically presents as coolant loss from the pump weep hole, bearing noise from the front of the engine, or overheating. When replacing the water pump always replace the drive belt and thermostat at the same time as a matter of course.
The Viscous Coupling — Most Common Cause of Overheating on SZ Models
The engine-driven cooling fan uses a viscous coupling — a fluid-filled temperature-sensitive coupling that automatically varies the fan speed according to coolant temperature. When the engine is cold the coupling allows the fan to slip, reducing parasitic drag. As coolant temperature rises the coupling progressively locks up, driving the fan faster and increasing airflow through the radiator. Over time the silicone fluid inside the viscous coupling breaks down. A failed coupling will either freewheel permanently — causing overheating at low speeds and in traffic — or lock up permanently — causing excessive fan noise and poor fuel economy. Viscous coupling failure is one of the most common causes of overheating on SZ cars and should always be investigated first.
Cooling Fan
The engine-driven cooling fan is a heavy multi-bladed unit mounted directly to the viscous coupling. Fan blade cracks or damage are a safety hazard and should be inspected regularly — a cracked or damaged fan must be replaced immediately. We stock cooling fans and viscous couplings for all SZ variants.
