Product Details & Fitment
Is the heating system in your classic Rolls-Royce or Bentley failing to warm the cabin adequately, or has your underseat heater matrix started to leak? Part number RD6924 is the correct replacement underseat heater matrix with spacer for Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith, Silver Dawn and Bentley MkVI and R Type — covering models from 1947 to 1959.
On these classic post-war Crewe-built cars, the heater system uses an underseat heater matrix — a small heat exchanger mounted beneath the front seat that uses hot coolant from the engine to warm the cabin air. This design was typical of the finest motor cars of the era and provides effective cabin heating when functioning correctly. Over time the matrix corrodes internally, causing coolant leaks, reduced heating efficiency, or complete heater failure.
This is a new aftermarket replacement heater matrix, produced with a modern and more efficient heater core than the original unit — providing improved heat output while fitting correctly in the original housing. The spacer is included as part of the assembly.
The heater motor is available separately if required — please ask our team when ordering if you also need the blower motor for this system.
Signs your underseat heater matrix needs replacing: No heat or reduced heat output from the cabin heater, sweet smell inside the cabin indicating coolant leak, coolant loss from the system with no visible external leak, damp or wet carpet under the front seat area, or visible corrosion or leaking from the heater matrix itself.
Fitment: Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith — 1947 to 1959 (LWB all chassis, SWB from chassis WDC100), Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn — 1947 to 1955, Bentley MkVI — 1948 to 1952 (chassis B237DZ to B301PU), Bentley R Type — 1952 to 1955.
