This system requires Duckhams Q mineral oil (LHM) — never conventional brake fluid, which will destroy the system seals immediately. The hydraulic filter should be changed at every service interval — a blocked filter causes sluggish brake and suspension response and accelerates pump wear. The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 6.75-litre V8 uses a straight 20W-50 mineral engine oil — most marque specialists recommend a high-quality 20W-50 mineral oil rather than synthetic or semi-synthetic, as the older engine seals and tolerances are designed for mineral oil. The hydraulic system uses LHM mineral fluid — this is completely separate from the engine oil and must never be confused.
