Description
Is there a rumbling, grinding or humming noise from the rear of your classic Rolls-Royce or Bentley that changes with road speed? This is the classic sign of a worn rear wheel bearing — and part number RG5365 is the correct replacement rear wheel bearing for Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn and Bentley MkVI and R Type.
This bearing is the half shaft C series bearing fitted to the rear axle of these classic post-war Crewe-built cars. The rear wheel bearings carry the full weight of the vehicle at the rear axle while allowing the half shafts to rotate freely. Over time these bearings wear, causing play in the rear hub, noise under load and ultimately — if left unattended — potential damage to the axle casing and half shaft itself.
Signs your rear wheel bearing needs replacing: Rumbling, humming or grinding noise from the rear of the car that increases with road speed, noise that changes when the car is loaded or cornering, play or movement in the rear hub when checked, or excessive heat from the rear hub area after driving.
Important note: When replacing rear wheel bearings it is recommended to also inspect and replace the associated rear hub seals at the same time to prevent oil contamination of the new bearing. Please ask our team about related components when ordering.
Fitment: Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn — 1949 to 1955, Bentley MkVI — 1946 to 1952, Bentley R Type — 1952 to 1955.
