Description
Is the hood on your Bentley or Rolls-Royce no longer staying open on its own? A worn or failed hood strut is one of the most common issues on these models — and part number PP30473PC is the correct left hand replacement electric hood strut for the full range of Bentley Arnage, Azure, Brooklands and Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph and Park Ward models.
The hood strut is a gas-pressurised support rod that holds the bonnet safely open while you or your technician works on the engine. Over time the internal gas pressure diminishes and the strut loses its ability to support the weight of the hood — a frustrating and potentially dangerous issue during any underbonnet inspection or service. On these models the strut also incorporates an electric release function, making correct part fitment especially important.
This is the left hand strut. If you also require the right hand strut, that is part number PP30472PA.
Signs your hood strut needs replacing: Hood slowly drops or falls when propped open, hood only stays up when supported manually, strut feels loose or offers no resistance when compressed, visible leaking or residue around the strut body, electric hood release not functioning correctly.
Important installation note: For optimum lubrication and longest service life, install this strut with the piston rod pointing downwards when the hood is in the closed (inactive) position.
Fitment: Bentley Arnage Green Label, Red Label, Le Mans, R, T, RL — 1998 to 2009, Bentley Azure — 1995 to 2001, Bentley Brooklands Coupe — 2009 to 2010, Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph — 1998 to 2002, Rolls-Royce Park Ward — 2000 to 2002.
