Understanding Gen 1 Bentley Bentayga Engine Mount Failures

If you own or service a Gen 1 Bentley Bentayga (2016–2021), you already know how smooth and quiet the driving experience is supposed to be. However, as these early luxury SUVs accumulate mileage, many drivers start noticing subtle vibrations at stoplights or harshness during acceleration.
In most cases, the culprit isn't the W12 or V8 engine itself—it’s the active electronic engine mounts.
Why Gen 1 Bentayga Mounts Fail
Unlike traditional solid rubber mounts, the Gen 1 Bentayga uses active, fluid-filled hydraulic mounts equipped with internal electronic solenoids. Controlled directly by the vehicle ECU, these mounts actively stiffen or soften based on engine load and RPM to counteract power-train vibrations.

Tip: It is always recommended to replace both the left and right active mounts simultaneously. Because both mounts endure identical mileage and wear, replacing only one side puts uneven strain on the new mount, causing it to wear out prematurely.
